Omeros on the Beach Is the (owners John & Effie Omeros') latest instalment in the illustrious history of Omeros family restaurants.

In 1951, John's father Costa, arrived in Australia from Greece. He went on to become a fully qualified chef and throughout the 50's & 60's worked in some of Sydney's finest restaurants (Rainaud's, Normandy & Valentines).

In 1971, Costa, together with brother Michael opened "Paragon Seafood Restaurant" at La Perouse. From very humble beginnings, it became a success, earning a good reputation for fresh & innovative seafood.

On 26th of May 1974, tragedy struck when Sydney was hit with a violent storm and gale force winds destroyed the Paragon. Undeterred, they opened the "Paragon Seafood Restaurant" at Malabar, exactly two months later. Costa & Michael and now with younger brothers Nick & Comino, made the restaurant a huge success.

In 1978, Costa, now with youngest brother Angelo opened "Escoffier's International Restaurant" at Kogarah. (Costa's sons John & Peter now join business). In 1979 they opened "Omeros Bros Seafood Restaurant" at Brighton Le-Sands (voted "Best Seafood Restaurant" Sun Herald readers poll 1979).

In 1980, (after selling Escoffier's and Omeros Bros Brighton) they opened "Omeros Bros. Seafood Restaurant" at Malabar.

In 1981, John branches out alone and opened the "Deep Sea Tavern" at Canterbury Leagues Club.

In 1984, John together with father Costa & brother Peter opened "Rhiannon Fine Dining" at Sans Souci. "Rhiannon", over the next 15 years further established the Omeros family name for friendly service and superb seafood, (nominated "Top 20 restaurants of NSW " - Gourmet Traveller "88 and Finalist Best Seafood Restaurant" - Sun Herald readers poll 1996).

Over the years, John's uncles also enjoyed great success in Sydney - Michael & Comino at "The Paragon" Kensington, Coogee, Souths Junior's Club & in Queensland - Nick & Angelo at Burleigh Heads, Brisbane and "The Marina Mirage" Gold Coast. (voted No1 Seafood Restaurant, People's Choice Awards, 2004).

In November 2002, John opened "Omeros on the Beach", Ramsgate and together with his wife Effie, their children Marie, Dean, Stephan brother Peter and loyal staff, they always aim to provide the best service and quality seafood for which the Omeros family is renown.

In 2008, 2011, 2012,2014, 2015 & 2016 Omeros on the Beach was proud to receive 'The Best Fine Dining Restaurant' at the St. George Leader Business Awards. In 2011 'Best Business' (Rockdale Council Awards) and finalist for 'Best Formal Seafood Restaurant' in 'The Restaurant and Catering' Awards 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016. In 2015 Omeros also won the 'Best Business Award' in the St.George Leader Small Business Awards.
